Kyle's List
The books, tools, podcasts and articles that I keep on repeat. This page stays short on purpose. If it's here, it earned the spot.
On Repeat Right Now
- The Bear - Hulu. This isn't just a series about a chef and a restaurant. It's about relationships, building something, legacy, and our choices in life.
Books
- Terminal List Series - Jack Carr. Anything Carr writes gets moved to the top of the queue.
- Malcolm Gladwell, All Of Them. Pick one, you can't miss. Nobody makes you rethink the obvious like Gladwell.
- Never Enough - Andrew Wilkinson. An honest look at building companies, selling them and why the scoreboard never feels finished.
- Culture Code - Daniel Coyle. How great teams actually get built. I think about this one with every hire.
- The Daily Stoic - Ryan Holiday. The easiest door into stoicism. Seneca said it first, Holiday makes it stick. Grab any of his stoicism books from here.
- Tribe Of Mentors - Tim Ferriss. Anything Ferriss earns a spot, Tools of Titans and The 4-Hour Workweek included. This page exists because of him.
- Unreasonable Hospitality - Will Guidara. Changed how I think about client experience. Not a restaurant book, a service book.
Tools
- iPhone 18 Pro. A few solid upgrades but the main cog to the Apple ecosystem.
- The Cotton Project Tee, Imogene + Willie. My favorite tee.
- Kindle Colorsoft. The matte color screen is the first one that doesn't feel like reading on a phone.
- Ninja Creami. Makes protein ice cream easy and delicious. But it's loud.
- Ice Barrel. This is for plunging. Health benefits TBD but it's good to do uncomfortable things.
Podcasts
- Pardon My Take. For sports and getting a good laugh in.
- My First Million. For brainstorming and business ideas. I usually leave with a page of notes.
- All The Hacks. For life tips and credit card hacking.
- Stuff You Should Know. For trivia and learning something you didn't know you cared about.
- Huberman Lab. For health and optimization.
Articles
- The Self-Help Trap - Tim Ferriss. Twenty years of optimizing and the takeaway is that relationships and acceptance beat endless fixing. Worth two reads.
- Principles - Nabeel Qureshi. 62 short rules for work and life. I steal from this list regularly.
- Ordinary Abundance - Jordan Dworkin. An interactive walk through your own apartment that makes running water feel like a miracle again. Pairs well with the sandwich quote below.
- On Needing to Find Something to Worry About - The School of Life. For anyone who finds a new worry the second an old one dies.
Quotes
- "Enjoy every sandwich." Warren Zevon. In Practice? Draw joy from the small, mundane things in everyday life.
- "We don't see things as they are. We see them as we are." Anais Nin
- "Hard choices, easy life. Easy choices, hard life." Jerzy Gregorek
- "The trouble with most of us is that we would rather be ruined by praise than saved by criticism." Norman Vincent Peale
- "I am an old man and have known a great many troubles, most of which never happened." Mark Twain
- "And I urge you to please notice when you are happy and murmur 'If this isn't nice, I don't know what is.'" Kurt Vonnegut
- "Let me never fall into the vulgar mistake of dreaming that I am persecuted whenever I am contradicted." Ralph Waldo Emerson
- "The hero and the coward feel the same thing." Cus D'Amato
- "We suffer more in imagination than in reality." Seneca
- I like the entire If poem by Rudyard Kipling. Most notably, "If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster, and treat those two impostors just the same."
This list will grow. Check back.
